Contacts Live Photos at a Glance


 

Here is your Contacts Live Photos main window:

  1. Toolbar includes the following function buttons:

     
    • Album — lets you organize and manage your album. Click to access pull-down menu to add/delete/rename an album and set album access rights for other users.
    • Image — lets you organize and manage images in a selected album. Click to access pull-down menu to add or copy/move images to other albums, edit titles and descriptions, e-mail images as an attachment, and rotate images.
    • View — lets you choose the way your images are displayed on the image pane.

       
  2. Search box. Enter a keyword or a phrase (e.g. “sunny day”) and click Go to see the list of images where the search word is found in a title or description.
  3. Clicking on "Available Albums" shows the list of all available albums, access rights to every album for a user who is currently logged in, and number of photos in every album.
  4. Click to hide album list pane. Image pane will expand to occupy the whole browser window, as shown in the sample below:

  5. Add Images button. Click to upload images to the currently opened album. You can select one of the following upload options:

     
    • One by one — standard upload of one or more images by typing file names or browsing them on your local computer.
    • Bulk — drag and drop upload; allows you to drag multiple images on a window and add them to your album in one upload operation.
    • Zip Archive — option for uploading zip archives; images will be automatically uncompressed and added to an album.

       
  6. Slideshow button. Click to start slideshow presentation of photos in the selected album.
  7. Create a Link button. Click to create a link for selected images or an entire album.
  8. Selected images are outlined with a yellow frame. You can select one or more images and perform operations on them. When selecting image(s) (clicking once) “Actions with selected images” pane opens up.
  9. “Actions with selected images” pane is the alternative to the toolbar buttons to manipulate images. It includes the same options that can be accessed by clicking Image from Contacts Live Photos toolbar.
  10. Click to close “Actions with selected images” pane. To show it again, select one or more images and then click “Show Actions Panel” link that will appear in the Status line.
  11. Status line. Show the total number of images in the current album and how many images are selected.

Uploading Photos


 

To upload your photos, you can either click Add Images button or click Images -> Add Images(s) from Contacts Live Photos toolbar.

Note:
  • In the bottom of “Add Images” window the Note shows your available Contacts Live Photos storage space. You can upload as many files as can fit in the available storage space.
  • Users with only R (Read) access level to this album will not see Add Images button on the images pane, neither will they be able to click Image -> Add Image(s)

 

There are three options to upload images to Contacts Live Photo: One By One Upload, Bulk Upload and ZIP Archive Upload. See details below.

One By One Upload


 

Adding images one by one is a standard upload procedure used throughout Contacts Live application. Type your file name or click Browse to locate it on your local computer, add a description if needed and click Upload:

Bulk Upload


 

With bulk upload you can drag and drop images from your local computer right on the upload window, where they are automatically displayed as thumbnails. Click Add if you would like to add a file manually. To remove an image from the pane, select your image and click Remove.

Click Upload when you are ready to upload all the images placed on the upload window into your Contacts Live Photos album:

Note: Bulk Upload requires Java to be enabled in your browser. Also Java Runtime Environment that executes Java Applet must be installed on your computer. Refer www.java.sun.com for further details.

ZIP Archive Upload 


 

ZIP archive upload allows you to add images from a ZIP-archive to your Contacts Live Photos album. Select a ZIP-file and click Upload. All images contained in the uploaded archive will be automatically uncompressed and placed in the current album.

Note: Only archives of ZIP format can be uploaded to Contacts Live Photos.

Viewing Slideshow


 

To view your albums’ slideshow simply click Slideshow. Your slideshow will open in a new window:

The following are the slideshow window controls and options:

  1. Skip to the beginning of the slideshow
  2. Skip to the previous slide
  3. Click to start the slideshow
  4. Skip to the next slide
  5. Skip to the end of the slideshow
  6. Set your slideshow speed (default is 3 seconds). Click "-" or "+" to adjust the speed
  7. Click to display image name and description right on the actual photo image. Click "hide description" to display image only

The slideshow control panel disappears if you mouse is not moved for 3 seconds to allow the full view of an image. To bring control panel back up, place and move your mouse anywhere on the slideshow window.

If you wish to resize your image, simply resize the slideshow window. The displayed image will be scaled automatically to your preferred dimensions.

Sending Images as an E-Mail Attachment


 

Contacts Live Photos lets you e-mail one or more images as an attachment. Select your image(s) and click Image -> Send Email. Before sending your e-mail include recipients, indicate optional subject and text message, and select image size (thumbnail, small, medium, or large).

Creating and Sharing Links to Your Photo Collection


 

Contacts Live Photos lets you create photo links; i.e. web addresses to the pages containing your photo collections. Links provide open access to your photos: your friends can view them and play slideshows, you can place them on a website or a blog, e-mail or send them in a text message, or share them with others in any way you like.

Creating Links


 

Follow the steps below to create a photo collection link:

  1. Select photos to be included on a web page when the link is clicked. You can select any number of images or an entire album.
  2. Click Create a Link located on the images panel and specify your choice for the link content; i.e. selected images or an entire album.

  3. Give your link a name. Album or the first selected photo name is used as the default name for a link.

Once you complete the steps described above, your newly created link will be placed in “My Links” section in the albums panel. You can click on the link name to display the link’s web address, Delete and Email this Link options, and your images viewing format. The preview window displays the photos’ layout on the corresponding web page.

Click on the link's address to open it in the new browser window or click on an image to see its' preview.

Click Change Link Address to give your link a friendly URL - a meaningful word in place of the link address ending (e.g. http://demo.Contacts Live.net/photos/vacation)

Sharing Links


 

A link to your photo collection can be copied and pasted on a blog post, web page, chat or a text message window, etc. Contacts Live also lets you e-mail your photo links. Click on a link name in “My Links” section in an albums panel, and then click Email this Link. Indicate recipients, subject and add optional message in the pop-up form:

Your recipients will see the link below the message in the email body section.

Viewing Photos on a Link Page


 

Contacts Live lets you choose how your photos are displayed to viewers when the link is clicked. Click on a link name in “My Links” section in the albums panel and select the view from the “Preview” drop down list. The following are you photos layout choices:

  • Thumbnails
  • Small pictures with description
  • Large pictures with description
  • Slideshow only

Deleting Links


 

Deleting a link will close access to the corresponding web page. The viewers who have had an access to the link page previously, will no longer be able to view the photos.

To delete a link, click its' name in “My Links” section in the albums panel and then click Delete.

Organizing Photos


 

Contacts Live Photos provides variety of options for organizing your photos. Depending on your access level to an album, you can view your images in several different sizes, copy/move them from one album to another, edit title and description, rotate and delete images.

Click Image from Contacts Live Photos toolbar to access list of available image actions.

Did you know?  If you click on a an image one time, a light-yellow pane "Actions with selected images" is displayed on the bottom of the page that shows you all the options allowed with an image; e.g. view, edit title/description, e-mail, rotate, delete, etc. Click on the option to perform an operation on an image.

Viewing Photos


 

To view an image in a selected album simply double-click on an image or click Image -> View from the Contacts Live Photos toolbar.

Selecting Image Viewing Size


 

Depending on the size of your original image Contacts Live Photos lets you view your images in following sizes: thumbnail (96 x 96 pixels), small (256 x 256 pixels), medium (512 x 512 pixels), and large (1024 x 1024 pixels). In case image sides are not equal, the larger side will be scaled down to the corresponding size, and the shorter side — accordingly (except for thumbnail, which is always shown as 96 x 96).

For example, if you have uploaded an image of size 2592 x 1944 pixels, it will be scaled as the following:

  • small — 256 x 192 pixels
  • medium — 512 x 384 pixels
  • large — 1024 x 768 pixels
Note: Every uploaded image will be scaled down to the smaller sizes only; i.e. if the size of an uploaded image is 800 x 600 pixels, it will be displayed in thumbnail, small and medium sizes only, but not large.

Viewing and Customizing Album Content


 

Contacts Live Photos lets you list your album content in two ways. Both are selectable by clicking View from the Contacts Live Photo toolbar.

 

 Displaying photos in List format  List — displays photo thumbnail (small image), its' title and description. This is a good option for an album where each picture is supplied with annotation.
 Displaying photos in Tile format  Tile — displays thumbnails only. Perfect to browse large image collections.
 

Click View -> Customize View to customize your album view. You can specify:

  • maximum number of images listed in a viewing pane (you can choose between 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 images)
  • maximum number of characters of an image description when displayed in List view.

Rotating Images


 

Contacts Live Photos lets you rotate image(s) by 90° left or right. Select one or more images and click Image -> Rotate Left (Rotate Right) from the Contacts Live Photo toolbar.

Editing Images Titles and Descriptions


 

You can edit title of one or more images and add/modify descriptions. Select your image(s) and click Image -> Edit Image(s). Add/modify each images title and optional description.

Copying/Moving/Deleting Images


 

Select your images and click Image -> Copy Image(s) to copy images to another album (or click Image -> Move Image(s) to move images to a different album), select the new album from the list and click Copy (Move).

To delete photos from an album, select images and click Image -> Delete Image(s).

Organizing Albums


 

Your photos are organized into albums. For every album a user with administrative privileges can set access rights. Depending on your access rights you can add new albums to Contacts Live Photos, set access rights for other users, or delete albums.

Creating New Photo Album


 

To create an album click Album -> Add Album, give your album a name and click Save. Your album should appear in the “Available Albums” list in the main Contacts Live Photos window

Setting Access Rights to an Album for Users and User Groups


 

A user with administrative privileges can assign access right to an album, the rules of sharing an album between other users and user groups of Contacts Live Photos. Select your album and click Album -> Modify Album. Click on Users and Groups tabs to set/modify access to the album for users and user groups correspondingly.

The following are available levels of access to an album:

Read (R) — a user (user group) can list, view, e-mail album photos, and share album links
Write (W) — a user (user group) can add/modify photos in this album and share album links
Full (F) — a user (user group) can add/modify photos, rename this album and permissions

When setting access level to an album, the combination of personal and group access rights will be applied, e.g. if user Ann belongs to a group which has R (Read) access rights, then Ann has an effective permission as in the table below:

Note: Setting access rights to an album can be done by a user who has F (Full) access level to this album or by an account administrator in "Users & Groups" window.

Deleting an Album


 

Select an album you want to delete and click Album -> Delete Album in Contacts Live Photos toolbar.

Note: Once an album is deleted you can not restore it back to Contacts Live Photos.
